HELLO, and welcome!
I’m Becky. I want to give you ideas on how to create fast, easy, interesting and healthy meals for the whole family. On this blog, you will find:
- Tips on how to add something special to elevate your cooking, so even mid-week dinners become unique and have the wow-factor.
- Recipes using everyday ingredients which can be found in your cupboard and at local supermarkets.
- Fresh meals, made from scratch. So it tastes the best and you know exactly what has gone into your food. ie. no preservatives and e-numbers
- Simple recipes that are easy to follow, and have been tried and tested by me! (and road tested on my husband and two kids)
I first learned about food growing up in Kentucky and watching my granny cook. She wanted to show everyone she cared and loved us by cooking delicious food. I have such fond memories of sour pickles from a pretty Mason Ball jar, and the grassy smell and snapping sound of freshly picked green beans being broken while we sat and gossiped with rolling green country fields as our back drop.
One move to London later, and I was amazed at the food revolution happening right before my eyes! This was not the British food I had read about – this was exciting, fusion cooking influenced by London’s multi-cultural inhabitants. I became obsessed and got hopelessly addicted to cookbooks and cooking shows in the process. It was here that I decided to apply to be on Masterchef. Wow.. what an experience, and one which has changed my life.
Now, life’s journey has brought me a husband, two sweet little boys and a move to Sydney. I’m inspired by this beautiful city more every day. I’ve loved the change from living in a huge city to being surrounded by water, gorgeous skies and amazing beaches.
My food is influenced by my surroundings and by travel, by the senses, by comfort. I love to cook intuitively without a recipe. I believe delicious food always requires a balance: salty with sweet, something rich with something clean, crunchy with smooth. For me, cooking is a fantastic creative outlet.
