This is one of the most simple Asian side dishes I’ve come across. These 3 Ingredient Sesame Beansprouts are quick, easy and delicious yet only use 3 ingredients. This also makes a great low carb alternative to noodles.
This is a corker of a little side dish – I always get compliments on it, yet it is embarrassingly easy and requires only 3 ingredients. I also love that it uses up beansprouts as they are so cheap and easy to come by. Some might say they are the least liked veggie in the spectrum of Asian dishes, but not any more! I think they taste amazing when softened and pressed this way.
I’ve started serving this bean sprout dish on the side when I do stir-frys and noodle dishes. I think it just makes a nice change from having everything in one big pot. It just feels nicer to have a meal with components rather than all in one. Its nice to have choices on the plate! Anyway, I must admit that there is a big place in my heart for cooking one pot meals too. They make less mess, use less equipment, take less time, etc. So, it’s a good thing that this side dish is so fast and easy, as you don’t feel it is an extra hassle to make this to go on the side.
When I used to work at a busy singing school in London (I’m a singing teacher as well as a food blogger), the office manager Kirsty was a keen cook herself and particularly loved Korean food and cooking other Asian cuisines. She told me how to make this side dish and I’ve been making it regularly ever since.
This is a perfect quick accompaniment to grilled meat or fish, along with some simple rice. Try this amazing Korean BBQ Chicken and Sauce and serve these beansprouts on the side for a delicious high protein, low carb meal.
